Toasty Kitchens

In this previous post, I discussed kitchen paint color ideas. Currently the kitchen is bright yellow:

I was considering other shades of yellow and even shades of white, but now I'm looking at tan! A very toasty tan.

This picture represents a very close relative of the shade I am thinking of. What do you think? Will this work in the kitchen? Remember that the closet room to the kitchen is the living room, and it's painted with Behr Manhattan Mist, like this:

The picture with the Christmas tree represents the color a bit better than the picture above it, which is very dark. So do you think that purply-gray will transition well into a toasty-tan kitchen?
